What to Expect
What will therapy look like?

Therapy is a journey. There will be ups and downs. Feeling encouraged and discouraged as you process griefs. Many different feelings are experienced as you gain self-awareness and begin, or continue, the restoration process in yourself and with others. Our therapists will walk you through emotionally difficult areas in your life and relationships. This includes past, present, and future. If you follow it through by completing the therapeutic assignments and commit to attendance, you will see progress.
The theoretical approach used is an integrated variety of orientations based on a client's specific needs. Primary evidenced-based techniques and interventions are integrated and utilized from Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Positive Psychotherapy. Interventions include, but are not limited to: reframing, uprooting negative techniques, therapeutic frameworks, encouragement, compassion, education, and awareness. Your first session will include a Psychosocial Assessment, a comprehensive assessment including an evaluation that determines needs and risks.

What is the duration of the sessions?

Time range is 55 minutes per session. On average, one session per week is recommended for treatment. The amount of months needed for therapy depends on the treatment used. EMDR has proven to be a more rapid treatment than other methods. Each individual has experienced pain, loss, and/or trauma. No matter what age, the restoration process depends on the level of impact in one’s heart. If impact is high, then naturally the process will need more time. The pace is determined by your investment and commitment in the treatment process. It is important that this is not rushed. Your therapist will guide you through this. Therapy is a process as hardships and challenges in life happen. Therapeutic treatment is complete once you achieve emotional regulation and stability and able to practice healthy coping skills in your life. Once complete, you have the option to follow-up as needed for maintenance and continued education.
